Our Story
Hi there!
My name is Lorrie Walker, the owner of Heart's Content Flower Farm in Murphy, Oregon, and I'm so glad you've found us here! I live on this micro farm with my dear husband Tom and some of our amazing children (the others are grown now), two dogs, three cats, one bunny, a flock of chickens, and a horse named Dancer.
I've loved flowers, plants, and gardens for as long as I can remember. My earliest garden memories include stroking rose petals against my cheeks and marveling at their softness and beauty, running in terror from bumblebees hiding in the flowers I stuck my nose in, and the time my mom's cousin, "Uncle Tom," a tremendous tease, dramatically pretended to have been poisoned after taking a bite of the pansies I'd picked at my Oma's house! I was horrified until I found him out, and then we had a good laugh and hug.
Through the years, it seems I've always had at least a little patch of earth to tuck some seeds in, and as the patches grew, so did my knowledge, appreciation, and delight in the process, the results, and the Creator of it all. Everyday miracles in my yard and garden!
In spring of 2015, I realized that all this growing and loving of flowers and gardening needed to be shared. Lo and behold, I wanted to start a cut flower farm! After much discussion, thought, and prayer, I knew I had my husband's blessing when he told me I could, "grow flowers to your heart's content." So I now had not just his stamp of approval, but the name for the farm as well! Heart's Content, not only because of his comment, but also because my heart IS content in the garden.
I am so excited to share with you the amazing seasonal flowers and herbs we grow, all sustainably grown with no GMO's or chemicals. We are a small farm, to be sure, but this means each plant we grow gets lots of love and attention, and it shows.
